Dayle in Limoux – Day #4

July 8, 2022

Grenoble is busy and full of energy and book stores! Practicing my French as I can and so many are patient and try their English, too. Beautiful energy and topography, surrounded by mountains, the ‘capital of the French Alps.’ Chartreuse to the south, Vercors to the west, and to the east, the Bellendonne range.

The Bastille is a fortress overlooking the valley of Grenoble. Requests to fortify this hill had been made by Francis I in 1538 and by Charles IX in 1566, but these were not acted upon.

Spotted this guy in one of the community spaces.

Louis-Hector Berlioz, 1803-1869, a French Romantic composer and conductor. He composed operas and hybrid genres like Romeo eat Juliette and La Damnation de Faust.

And, look who else I found today.

ANNIE GLENN! My girl is in Grenoble for meetings with her company and client! We get to be together for a few days in FRANCE! Je suis tres heureux. I am so happy. Tomorrow, back on the train and heading for Montpellier for a day and then back to Limoux. Annie leaves for the States early Tuesday morning. What a gift this time has been. We had no idea until late Spring that we would be in France at the same time! She may be back late August with her boyfriend. Yes please!

We stopped for a café au lait and French croissants.

The best.

And then, we glanced across the street and saw a guy, well, doing what guys do. We need these for chicas.

Actually saw this on Emily in Paris! She was a bit taken aback as well. So funny.

And then an end to a beautiful day. A gift from Gaia and all my ancestors. Thanks be to you. And the moon. La lune. 🌗

Tomorrow, heading to the of the largest urban centers in the region of Languedoc/Occitania and visit the Montpellierains and soak up their gorgeous history.
À bientôt.
